Body Paint and Brains

A couple weekends ago Arnold and I went up to Ohio to visit his family and Aubrey. We went to the Ohio Reniassance festival. It was bunches of fun as usual. We ate Buskens, talked about ideas for Egyptian Christmas, and even went fabric shopping. Note: when you can't find fabrics that you like, go shopping with a quilter. Anyway, coincidentally, it was "Romance Weekend" at the fest. Arnold wore his Harlequin costume and I wore my Queen of Hearts. I was going to wear it anyway, "Romance Weekend" just made it funny. We saw a couple of shows. Arnold bought me some kick-ass celtic inspired earrings and I got my face and upper chest painted. I walked up to the face painter and said "I'd like a design to match my outfit" and she said "and you want it right there" pointing to her chest. I figured "why not" and had my face and upper chest painted (see pictures below). The funny part came when my mother was talking to a co-worker who asked her to go trick-or-treating with her and her daughter. Mom asked if she could paint her face. The woman said "You'd do that". My mother replied "Hell yeah, my daughter just had her tits painted". For the record it was my "upper chest" not my tits.

In other news, we are having a Zombie movie marathon tomorrow, so I made a "brain cake" I used one of those "filled cake" pans and made a domed cake with no-bake cheesecake in the middle. I put gummy worms in the cheesecake, cut a hole in the top of the "brain" and made it look like the worms were crawling out of it. I am actually quite happy with the way it turned out. See the pictures below.

WOW! This is a red letter day. I am the first to post on your blog entry. Absolutely love the brain cake. The terminal looking tumor is a perfect effect. And for the record tits, upper chest...tomAto, tomOta. Get over it.'
Love you

Well, after looking at the pics, I see the paint is WELL ABOVE the cleavage (a miracle in itself) so I would characterize that as upper chest and not tits, as your mother so eloquently put it. The cake looks uber-cool. One minor point - I was under the assumption that brains were grey, not pink (as in grey matter) I may be incorrect there.
We just had our Halloween Fundraiser Dance. I was a vampire - complete with silver fangs and platform boots. My DJ, who knows me well, was standing right beside me and asked someone where I was! We raised about $300. Not much, but it's a start.
First concert is over, thank goodness. Anything that could go wrong pretty much did. My students were fine, but the idiot kids in the audience were talking so loud that the parents couldn't hear my kids sing. I actually had to stop in the middle of the concert and give a lecture on proper concert behavior. (Sometimes teaching in the sticks really SUCKS!) My sound guy didn't show up, and the principal accidentally knocked my mike cords apart, so one of my mikes wasn't working at all! But anyway, first concert down, and I'm now in Christmas Musical HELL! You know, costumes, sets, props, figuring out the logistics of putting 100 kids on stage at once. By the time this one is done I'm going to need a gallon or two of Christmas Spirits! See you at Thanksgiving.

OH, btw Arnold - Regarding Reni's spelling - be glad she didn't put an e on the end of tomato. It took her years to break that habit!
