The Wonderful World of Drunken Cake
I had training in FL last week and stayed the weekend so I could hang out with my Mom. We had a blast. We made Chrys a birthday cake shaped like a wine bottle. It took us two days to make. Our first attempt was more or less a disaster but we learned a lot. We tried to make a 3-D stand- up bottle. It collapsed under its own weight and the fondant didn't work out well. The cake ended up with a fondant butt crack and leaned worse than that tower-thing in Pisa (see picture below).
Our second attempt turned out beautifully. We layed the cake down and made it look like fondant "wine" was spilling out of the top. We even named the wine "Chrysanna" and made its vintage date her birth year. In the end, we ended up making 6 batches of marshmallow fondant (real fondant tastes nasty), 2 16"x16" cakes and used 3 big tubs of icing in our many attempts to get this cake right. We got powered sugar and cake crumbs everywhere. We didn't realize that we hadn't cleaned our shirts when we went out to dinner and had to clean up in the truck with McDonald's napkins and bottled water. Chrys loved the cake. One of the Birthday party guests thought it was one of Chrys' artwork pieces and was surprised when she found out it was a cake. Mom had to make them cut into it. No one wanted to voluntarily destroy it. I find this funny because it is cake and therefore will eventually go bad. The choices are eat it and enjoy or watch the thing go moldy.
Mom and I decided to go to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom on Sunday. We had a blast. Epoct was having its annual flower and garden festival and the landscaping was amazing. They had topiaries shaped in all sorts of Disney Characters. When we got to the Magic Kingdom, Mom and I rode the teacups, which we love and haven't done in years. The cups have wheels in the center that make the cup rotate faster if you spin them. Some people sit there and don't spin the wheel. These people are odd and should be evaluated for the chronic mental illness known as "Boring"
We got out faces painted (as always). Mom got Tinkerbell and I got the Cheshire Cat. We got funny looks, even in the Disney parks. I guess because most people think face paint is for kids. Well, most people are wrong!

Stitch, Cheschire Cat, Beth, and Beth cake all in one post! This is your best entry yet.
Love the pics! However, I thought in the last few pics, Reni had REMOVED her makeup, not put facepaint on. Thanks for clarifying!
