Walking Funny

For the first half of Spring Break, I went down to Florida to visit mom. I had a lot of fun. Saturday we loaded up the truck with tools and headed up to her new house. We had dinner with Bo and Lois. Other than the loud restaurant, that was a blast. Mom and I played what we now call "Flying Scrabble" in the hotel room that night. It was a travel board where the pieces snap in. The only problem was that when you put a piece next to an "already snapped in" piece, the "already snapped in" piece would go flying. We managed not to lose any pieces to the air conditioning unit though.
The next day, Chrys came up and we began to lay the laminate floor in mom's new house. It was a nice material- tongue and groove and looked like a wood floor. We had lunch on her porch with a very interesting lizard who looked like it had zebra stripes. Since the house has no permanent power, we were racing against the clock to finish before the sun went down ( blind floor laying is not a good thing) We didn't beat the sun, but we did decide to finish anyway, so we went to Wal mart and got work lamps. Other than the power strip that we connected to the T-poll everything worked splendidly. Well, if you ignore the fact that we had to cut around grooved base board with a miter saw ( and then we found out that there is a proper tool for such things).
We got the floor done and were already starting to get sore on the way home. It is now four days later and I am still walking funny. Insert inappropriate funny comment here.

You make it so easy!

I'm glad you and your mama got it all done. And it sounds like you almost had fun too!

I promise I won't work you too hard here in Charleston. You can move a couch all by yourself, right?

WHAT?! You mean to tell me that not only was there a tool in existence that your mama didn't own, but didn't even KNOW ABOUT?! Wow. You just burst my bubble!
Good news! It looks like I will be able to come for your graduation after all. My boss said OK! :)

Trust me when I have 2 seconds to spare the tool in question will be in arsenal O' tools.

PS the floor looks fantastic. I hired Mitch to help me move a few things yesterday and I stayed in
Tampa to clean up the lake house and do some new house stuff shopping while I was actually in a city to do so.

I was at Target when Chrys beeped me on the Nextel and told me there was cool stuff at Pier 1. So I promptly left Target and met her at Pier 1. She was right. It was not only cool stuff, it was on sale. Needless to say I am very glad I have a big fat truck to haul stuff. We went to Tia's after that and had a good time.

I am finishing up packing now and about to embark on the ever so delightful cat relocation program. Wish me luck.

Love
Mom
